New Revolutionary Health and Fitness Program based on Intended Evolution Theory By Teresa Mullan Frease

‘Intended Evolution Fitness’ (I-Fit 150) is a new, revolutionary health and fitness program, combining eastern traditional health arts with modern medical science. It employs a series of exercises in conjunction with the power of the mind to help create a state of maximum health and longevity all the way to 150 years if desired. This program is designed to be easy to understand, simple to learn and fits easily into the daily routine. This simple practice has many benefits. With regular practice, it can help prevent cancer, strokes, osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, and major degenerative diseases such as, Alzheimer’s, dementia, macular degeneration and dental problems. This program also helps with weight control, energy level, sleep, mental acuity and much more.

This entire health and fitness program is based on the theory of “Intended Evolution” by Don X. Zhang, DAOM, PhD. Dr Zhang is a doctor of oriental medicine and acupuncture in Austin, Texas. He has been studying and carrying out research in the area of Biology and Meridian Theory for many years. He is the creator of the “Sternal Region Micro-system of Acupuncture”, a micro acupuncture system based on the sternum region of the body. He has received international awards such as the “Yellow Emperor Award” by the international congress of Chinese medicine. Doctor Zhang has also served as the Director of the International Association of Integrated Medicine and the Dean of the Texas College of Traditional Medicine.

From his own study and discovery, Dr Zhang believes that the evolution of life is made up of two parts: firstly, Natural selection and outside pressure and secondly, “Intention” and internal drive. To use a very simple example: two children are brought to a swimming coach for lessons. One of the children (child A) loves to swim and wants to be a swimming champion later on in life. The other child (child B) hates swimming and is only there because his parents brought him there. Both child A and child B are exposed to the external influences which will make them good swimmers but child A is much more likely to succeed because of his internal drive. However If child A just thinks about becoming a great swimmer but does not have the opportunity to train as one, then he will not actually be able to become a good swimmer. Only when the external and internal factors are working together can change truly happen.

We all know that our minds can affect our hormone levels causing physical and biological changes in the body which can result in improvements in functioning. These in turn can lead to natural selection, i.e. “the survival of organisms, best adapted to their environment.” Dr. Zhang calls this Intended Evolution. Utilizing this theory to improve our health and fitness is called Intended Evolution Fitness or I-Fit 150. For the last 2 years, Dr. Zhang along with his son, Bob Zhang, have been creating a system of I-Fit 150 exercises which are now ready to be shared with the general public. Teresa and Ed Frease are certified Instructors of I-Fit 150 and are teaching this program in Fairfield.

According to Dr Zhang’s theory we can live a full and healthy life all the way to 150 and beyond, but not through the use of drugs or by exercise alone, but by designing or setting the “Blueprint” to live to 150 by engaging the power of the mind through the use of “Intention”. We can design our health as we want it to be and live full and healthy lives despite all the environmental challenges facing us today.

You may say “I don’t want to live to 150 years old.” Let us emphasize that I-Fit 150 is not about extending your life span for the sake of adding years to your life, no matter whether in sickness or health. It’s about creating a high quality of life from this time forward and well into your later years. If you are building the foundation for a ten story building but end up only building five, this will be a very stable five story building. If you aim to be healthy for 150 years and live to be at least 95 years it will be a much healthier and more vibrant 95 years than if you continue blindly without a plan. If you have no intention or blueprint, then you leave yourself open to the intention and planning of others.

If you expect that you’ll die in your 80’s, then that’s exactly what’s likely to happen! If you expect, decide and intend to live to 150 you will most likely achieve that. At the very least the life that you do live will be lived in a much higher quality of health. Alas, intention alone, although primary, is not enough to achieve our goal of living to a ripe age in exuberant health. When the artist has the blueprint of his or her painting in mind, they have to lift up the paintbrush and apply the paint to paper in order to make it happen. Likewise when we have the blueprint in our minds of how we want our lives to be, in order to achieve our goal we need to do some exercises or forms to support and reinforce this blueprint.
Intended Evolution Fitness is about both the systematic use of “intention” and the corresponding exercises and forms that help bring this intention to fruition.

“Yet another exercise program?” How is this different or any better than the plethora of exercise programs already out there? Firstly, the problem with our health today is not just with the muscles and the cardiovascular system which is the limit of what many exercise programs address today. We also need to exercise the brain, the immune system, the nervous system, the skeletal system, the endocrine system, energy circulation, the senses and the internal organs. For all of this we need a new exercise program.

The old exercises in the gym do not seem to be preventing the major health problems we have today. The world is changing. Cancer, heart disease, strokes and respiratory problems, are among the main causes of death today in the U.S. In the 1950’s hardly anyone got cancer. What has changed since then? Our health today has been greatly affected by the chemicals, hormones and pesticides in our food and environment resulting in often high levels of toxicity within the body. This together with more sedentary lifestyles, more people working in the cities behind a desk or computer with more stress and little access to fresh air and exercise has resulted in an increased incidence of these diseases.

In our evolutionary past when we had to hunt for our food, this need to hunt for survival challenged many aspects of the body to be strong and sharp. When we had to seek out animals to kill for food, we had to have strong vision; quick reaction time, mental alertness; the ability to run fast, strong legs and strong arms. The body needs to be challenged in order to keep it strong. Modern life has become so “convenient” that it is killing us! Instead of having to get out of our cars and walk we drive to the drop off box at the post office or we get on the airport car inside the airport to deliver us right to the gate where we take off!

Today in our schools children instead of handwriting their papers are typing them on the computer. This may impact the functioning of the brain for this next generation. It is important to challenge our hands and fingers as this has a huge impact on the functioning of our brains. Today, we face a unique set of challenges, many brought on by modern day advancements. It is difficult to achieve health and longevity if modern life no longer provides opportunities to challenge the body or no longer supplies the level of health resulting from meeting such challenges.

Secondly, current exercise programs do not employ the use of the mind, specifically by using “Intention” to create the health we want. I-Fit 150 shows you how to include systematically the use of ‘Intention” in your work out and exercises.
Level 1 of the I-Fit 150 Program is taught as a workshop. After you take the workshop you leave with a manual and suggestions of how you can do the program at home. Later I-Fit 150 will be offering a weekly class (for those who have completed the workshop), since it is very beneficial to come together in groups to do this training.

But what specifically do you do in the I-Fit 150 Program? Can you give some examples of how it works?
When you do the I-Fit 150 Program after the Introduction and short warm up; you’ll learn how to create a blueprint or design for high level health from now on up to 150 years old and beyond. You will then learn how to properly apply specific intentions during individual exercises or forms targeting different functions in the body. For example, you will learn some physical and energetic forms to bring energy in to the hands to prepare the hands for an exercise which is done using the hands both individually and in a group. This one exercise alone helps to strengthen the brain, the endocrine system, lung capacity, coordination, balance and helps to relieve stress and balance the hormones.

Generally speaking, I-fit 150 provides specific internal visualizations and reinforces them with physical movements, exercises or forms which reinforce the work done with the mind during the visualizations. The work is powerful, sometimes quiet, sometimes active and a lot of fun!
